Options For Double Bubble Foil Insulation
Double bubble foil insulation can be a great option for those who want a safe and easy to install type of installation that will help to reflect radiant heat. It is nontoxic and doesn't provide a growth medium for mold or mildew. It can be installed without using protective clothing. There are a number of different companies that make this type of insulation.
EcoFoil double bubble foil insulation comes in two different types, with foil on one side or with foil on both sides. You can also get it in different widths and lengths, including 4 feet x 75 feet, 4 feet x 125 feet, and 6 feet x 125 feet. It is considered an excellent vapor barrier and has 97 percent reflectivity.
RadiantGuard makes another type of double bubble foil insulation. They also carry options with one white side and one foil side or foil on both sides. The insulation with the white side is meant for times when you are using insulation next to uncured concrete. The white side covers the uncured concrete, as the foil side would get corroded. It comes in 500 square feet rolls, including 16 inch tabbed and 24 inch tabbed options. This is a great option for insulating basements, or metal and steel buildings such as pole barns.

TempShield is another manufacturer of double bubble foil insulation. They offer 300 and 500 square foot rolls, in widths ranging from 4 feet to 6 feet, with special orders making it possible to get 8 feet or 10 feet wide rolls as well should you want them. All of these companies make similar products with similar r-values, which depend on the installation in order to determine the exact r-value. You need to be sure to follow the directions to get the best results, but r-values can be as high as r-17. Because this is a non-permeable type of insulation, you can't install it everywhere. However, it works very well for buildings that get a lot of heat transfer and need a solution for this problem. This insulation can dispel a lot of radiant heat and keep buildings cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
